We are a happy, down-to-earth, and loving family that finds joy in the little moments of everyday life. We enjoy playing games, eating meals together, running around the yard with our dogs and cats, and watching funny videos. As you read more about us, you will see that our little family is full of love and joy, and can provide a happy and secure life for your sweet baby.
We are grateful for the opportunity to share a bit about our life with you.
We met through a mutual friend eight years ago and knew instantly our connection was special. Keith was living in the state of Washington and Lacey was living in Texas. Once we decided to try our hand at a long distance relationship, we spent a lot of time flying back and forth and getting to know each other better. Seven months later we got engaged and were married 6 months after. Washington was our home for the first two years of our marriage but we decided the snow and frigid weather wasn’t for us and eventually found our way back to Lacey’s home state of Texas.
We are best friends who have opposite personalities and hobbies, but do everything together. Keith’s approach to life is easy going and calm while Lacey’s approach is passionate and excited. If Keith had a day to do whatever he wanted, he would be outside climbing rocks. If Lacey had a free day, she would do art or shop for clothes and shoes. Even though we are different, relaxing and spending time with one another is a favorite activity of ours. That may include going to dinner and a movie, hanging out with family, or going to a college football game. Trying new restaurants and sampling new cuisines is another way we can be found spending our free time. We are also a fairly active couple and enjoy riding our bikes, hiking, rock climbing and teaching our daughter about everything the outdoors has to offer.
Having children was always very important to us, and when faced with unexpected infertility, we felt we were being led to adoption. Choosing to adopt was the best decision we made. In October of 2014, we welcomed our daughter, London, into our family, and the past year and a half has been the most wonderful, fulfilling time of our lives. London brings joy to our lives with her feisty, vivacious personality. She is a social butterfly and loves to dance. She also loves babies and we know she’ll be the best big sister.
Shortly after we moved to Texas, we built a beautiful, ranch-style home in the country with plans to raise our family here. Living in the country has been an awesome way for us to combine our interests in the outdoors with our love for animals. We currently share our home with two dogs, Stubbs and Blue Bell, and five cats Rocky, Olive, Puddin’, Sugar, and Little Rocks. Our home is peaceful and cozy and we love spending our evenings and weekends hanging out on the back porch, grilling burgers, and pushing London in the swing.
One of the most important things to us is family and we make it a priority to spend as much time with them as possible. We live only three miles away from Lacey’s parents, and ten minutes away from her brother. Keith’s family lives in Washington but they visit us often. Lacey’s sister lives in Europe and we enjoy combining our love of travel with visits to see her and her family. We just recently returned from spending Christmas in Austria this year and had so much fun taking London on her first international trip to meet her cousin!
About Lacey, by Keith
Lacey is my favorite person. She’s happy and stable and it’s impossible not to be happy when you’re with her. I remember before we were married thinking how I couldn’t see my life without her in it and I’m so glad she felt the same! We were definitely meant for each other and I love being with her every day.
Lacey cares so much for her family and friends and is always there to provide support in both good times and hard times. I’ve seen her spend hours designing cards and signs for her friends’ weddings, preparing smorgasbords of delicious food for birthday parties, and sitting and talking her brother and sister through tough choices. She loves drawing and creating artwork and she’s now a part-time graphic designer for two small businesses while she stays at home with London. It’s great because she can work while London naps and be right there when she wakes up to take care of her and give her squishes.
Lacey has always had a love for children and a love for teaching reading. Before London was born, she was a kindergarten teacher for eight years. Being a part of a child's life at such a foundational age and seeing her little kindergarteners grow and change during the year they were in her class was her favorite aspect of the job. Once London was born though, she felt very strongly she needed to stay home with her. She wanted to be there for every milestone and be the one to help teach her about life, and spend as much time as possible with her. Even though she has left teaching behind, her expertise in teaching reading is not forgotten. She is so excited to teach her own children how to read and is thrilled one of London’s favorite activities is to sit with Mama and read books together.
One of my favorite things about Lacey is that she loves to cook delicious meals, especially for family events like football games and holidays. She’s always searching Pinterest for fun, new recipes to try and I’m happy to help eat it! Making her family and friends happy is something she loves and it shows in everything she does, from good food to thoughtful gifts to making holidays special. London and I are so fortunate because she brings so much love and joy to our family.
About Keith, by Lacey
Keith is such a wonderful person, someone I am so honored to spend my life with. He is kind, loving, and helpful in any way he can be. I love the way he looks at other people, always imagining what it would be like in their shoes rather than judging them. I have learned so much from him about what it means to care for others, and especially for each other. I am thankful to go through life with such an amazing partner.
My husband loves variety. He likes being outside taking our dogs for walks or helping my dad with his cattle, and he also likes being inside playing video games and watching movies or football. I’m so thankful he enjoys helping me with home projects and love that he likes to pretend he’s a lumberjack and cut wood on our property to make fires in the winter so we can roast marshmallows. Technology keeps him extremely motivated and engaged and therefore he enjoys keeping our home updated with the latest “techie” gadgets.
Keith works as a software developer and says he loves working with code because there is always something new to learn. We are very lucky he works with such a flexible and family friendly company and is able to work from home during the week, making him very present in our home life.
Seeing Keith be a father to London this past year and a half has been such a wonderful experience. She really did have him wrapped around her finger from the day she was born. He loves to spend time with her and she loves her ‘dada’ very much. A lot of his time with her is spent showering her with hugs and kisses, and teaching her all kinds of new things. When she was little, he would carry her around the house and tell her the names of items they would see. Now, anywhere we go, if she sees something she’s curious about, she yells, “Dada!” so he’ll come tell her what it is.
Keith goes above and beyond to be the best husband and father and we are so thankful for him. He is unconditionally supportive of “his girls” and will do anything he can to make them happy.
What We Hope to Offer a Child
We believe in raising our children with a mixture of unconditional love, open communication, and encouragement to follow their dreams. We have been given the amazing privilege of being there to guide our daughter through life, teaching her a love for others and encouraging her to explore her talents and pursue a lifestyle that will be fulfilling for her, and we look forward to extending this same guidance to our second child as well.
We believe in teaching respect of self and others through open communication and leading by example. Your baby will grow up in a fun, happy, and loving home with adoring parents and an amazing big sister who will feel so lucky to have him or her. And we can’t forget our three sets of awesome grandparents who can’t wait to spoil another grandchild!
Education is important to us and we are very passionate about it. We want our children to have the best education possible and are taking steps to ensure this will be an option for them. For both of us, college was a wonderful experience and we have already set up college funds for our children, so they can have similar experiences in the future. It is our opinion that education plays an important role in leading a successful life and we will encourage our children to pursue their dreams through education.
Raising our daughter has been the most entertaining and fun adventure and we are so excited to expand our family from three to four!
Thoughts on Adoption
Thank you so much for taking the time to read about our little family. Adoption is very near and dear to our hearts because it brought us together with our first child. This is why we are pursuing another adoption, because we know how wonderful it can be, and it is our dream to expand our family once more.
Having been through an adoption before, we understand what a big decision this is, and we will support you in any way we can. By choosing us to be your child’s family, you will always remain a special member of our family too.
It is important to us that your child always know who you are and how much you love him or her. We are willing to pursue an open adoption with communication that feels comfortable and right for all of us. We will do everything we can to make sure your child has a happy, stable home life where they will feel loved each and every day.
We wish you the very best as you make the difficult decision of choosing the right family for your baby.
