Letter

  • Hello!

We’re Ravi and Suchi and we are glad you’re taking the time to get to know us. We really hope we’ll get the chance to meet and learn more about you and your life, too.

Family is very important to us and one of our greatest dreams has been to become parents. We’ve been unable to have children of our own so far, but we are eager and excited to grow our own family. We can’t begin to imagine what you are feeling right now, but please know that we are committed to providing a warm and caring household for your child.

    About Us

Suchi’s cousin and Ravi’s uncle have been good friends for years and they decided to introduce us to each other. We were a bit leery of being set up, but they must have known something we didn’t.  We just seemed to click and we kept in touch through email and phone calls.  Things worked out great and we got married later that year. That was seven years ago, but it seems like just yesterday! Although we are opposites in a lot of ways, we complement each other well. We continue to grow together and still find new ways to make each other smile every day.

We live in a mid-sized town in central Illinois that’s not too big and not too small.  We’ve got great schools and wonderful parks nearby, and we live in a quiet neighborhood where kids are outside playing all day and don’t have to worry about traffic.   We have an inviting two-story house with plenty of room for a growing family.  It has a large backyard with a garden and plenty of room to play with our dog, Kirby.

Kirby is our three-year-old German Shepherd. We love to play with him and go on long walks. He’s still 110% puppy, but he promises that he’s going to grow out of it Real Soon Now. He’s very affectionate and friendly, and his goal in life seems to be give every human he meets a big, wet kiss.  For now, he loves mugging for the camera and finding new ways to outsmart us. We love having him in the house, and wouldn’t have it any other way.

In our free time, we love spending time outdoors, whether that’s going for walks on one of the many trails that run throughout our town or getting our hands dirty in our vegetable garden.  We enjoy reading – Suchi reads mostly historical novels while Ravi prefers science fiction and fantasy – and even started a casual book club with some of our friends so that we’re all making sure to carve out some time to read.  We’re also big fans of local theater and music, whether that’s musicals at one of the local universities, the symphony, or the annual Shakespeare festival.

We love to travel and make at least one big trip every year.  We try to visit at least one national park every year, and we’ve been across the country from El Yunque Rainforest in Puerto Rico to Olympic National Park in Washington state.  We’ve been able visit many amazing places across the US and all around the world.   We both have fond memories of traveling when we were children and we look forward to being able to take our own children on our trips, whether its to meet family in India or to explore new cultures in other countries.

We also both enjoy photography, which is another reason we enjoy travel.  Ravi likes to take nature and landscape shots.  He’d much rather be the person behind the lens, which is why there are so few family pictures of him as a teenager!  Suchi’s specialty is taking portraits and capturing people at their best.  We love trying to improve our skill and artistry.

Family is very important to us, and we’re blessed that ours have been so supportive through our issues with infertility and now our journey with adoption. Both of our families are eager for us to start a family of our own and are ready to spoil our child rotten.  Ravi’s parents live nearby and have already staked out babysitting rights, and while Suchi’s mother lives in India, she is ready to hop on a plane to help out however she can.  Suchi’s sister and Ravi’s brother and sister are ready to have a niece or nephew join the family, and we both have extended family in the Chicago area to welcome them.   Since Ravi’s parents live in town, everyone usually comes here for family gatherings and holidays.

    About Suchi by Ravi

Suchi is, in a single word, amazing. She’s one of the most caring and loving people I’ve ever met, and I feel so lucky that she is a part of my life.  She is incredibly nurturing – it just comes like a second instinct to her.  She’s always looking out for people and is always encouraging them to do their best and be their best, and she constantly makes me want to be a better man.

One of the most inspiring things about Suchi is her hard-working nature and her determination.  She is always challenging herself to improve, whether that’s personally or professionally.    She works as an IT Professional and consistently gets outstanding reviews because she’s always striving to learn new skills or business knowledge.  Whenever she comes across something she doesn’t understand, she makes a plan to learn everything she can about it.  She has an amazing voice and loves to sing, but she still takes lessons over Skype with a classical teacher in India to improve her existing skills.

Suchi can come across like she’s very reserved, but among friends and family her true nature really shines.  She’s really funny and warm, and she’s fond of having friends and co-workers over for dinner parties or game or movie nights.  She’s quick to make little jokes or pull pranks, but never anything that would hurt someone.  She’s very thoughtful of others, and is always the first person to volunteer to help bring meals for co-workers who have emergencies come up.

Suchi is smart and talented, but she’s never one to blow her own horn.  One of Suchi’s hobbies that she loves is beadwork.  She makes necklaces and bracelets, and she’s even started making her own beads!  She also enjoys movies, especially foreign films.  She can understand at least five languages, so sometimes I get lost because she doesn’t even need subtitles.

I can’t wait to see Suchi as a mother.  She has so much love to give and so many ways to share it.  I know she’ll be a firm but understanding parent, always there to provide guidance and encouragement.

    About Ravi by Suchi

There are many qualities that attracted me to Ravi, but for starters he is smart and sensitive. I admire his commitment to being patient and optimistic, and he’s always looking for the best in people. He can be a real clown at times and knows just how to get a laugh out of me. I’m glad he’s here to help remind me not to take things too seriously.

Ravi is caring and supportive, and I feel so fortunate that I know he’s there to help out whenever I’m feeling stressed out or down about something.  I know that he is ready and willing to listen any time I need to get something off my chest.  He always has helpful advice to offer or a positive outlook to share.

Ravi works for an insurance company as a research analyst.  It’s an established and stable career that he can leave at the office when he comes home.  Best of all, we both have just a ten minute commute to work so we have plenty of family together time in the evenings.

Ravi really loves to cook. We both share cooking duties, he’s the adventurous one who’ll make Thai or Japanese dishes or experiment in the kitchen.  He’s always reading, whether it’s keeping up on news and blogs or reading novels.  He enjoys listening to a wide variety of music and is always finding new concerts to attend.  He’s also really a kid at heart and loves gaming, from board games to video games.

I know Ravi has always wanted kids and that he’ll be a great father.  He still has many of the books he read as a kid saved down in the basement, and he’s ready to read them to our child.  When I watch him build things with LEGOs makes me sure he’ll be a playful, engaged father, but also that he’ll be a great teacher and confidant for them, too.

    Thoughts on Parenting and Adoption

We’re eager to share our lives and passions with a son or daughter. We know we’ll be able to provide a safe, caring space full of love and laughter. We look forward to teaching our child and learning from them, and most of all, exploring our world together.

We value education, but also understand the importance of play and expression.  We want our child to be curious and creative.  We want him or her to explore their surroundings and circumstances, and to want to learn about everything.   We want to teach our child to read, to sing, to draw, to laugh, and play.

He or she will be surrounded by friends and family, showered with love and affection and given all the fun and opportunities we can provide.

You will be part of that family, too.  Don’t forget that!  We welcome an open adoption and want our child to know their birth parents.  We want you to be involved in their life. We hope you’ll choose us, and can’t wait to welcome you into our family.

    Thank you
